Make The Time To See It

Don’t get so busy that you forget to see the beauty that surrounds you.

Beauty can come in many forms and all that truly matters is what that means to you.

To me, that means spending quality time with my family. What does it mean to you?

As I prepared to transfer departments within the school I work at, I was able to take a couple of days off to make the transition a little smoother. As a result I was able to spend some much needed quality time with my sweet daughter.

When life gets busy, you never realize the full extent of those you leave behind.

I know my family loves me, but I took that for granted over the past couple of years. Every long shift I worked, they were at home patiently waiting for me to come home.

Every weekend I spent lesson planning, they quietly sat off to the side letting me do it while they missed my being present.

Every weekend I would go back in to work in my classroom to prepare it for the week ahead, they would get up and find me missing and quietly left me alone when they would rather get up to me at home.

My friends, learn from my experience and be sure to make the time for your family.

Do not get so consumed by work and life that you forget there are people who love you.

Whether they tell you verbally or they don’t, it doesn’t mean they are not missing you.

Whether they are fully supportive and even encouraging doesn’t mean they are not missing you.

If you were to take the time to recognize all the time you are away and asked if they missed you, they would most likely answer yes if they were being honest.

So this is my moment to remind you, look at how busy you are and how disengaged you are and make some time to put your family back in your life.

You won’t regret it, instead you will cherish the time you spend with them.

Take the time now to make some memories.
