I started today just wanting to lay low and stay home. I’ve been so tired after an incredibly busy two weeks. But life had other plans.

I jumped online to place a grocery pickup order from our local store and then spent some time working on my blog while I waited for it to be ready.

I asked my sweet daughter, who isn’t feeling well, if she wanted to ride with me. She gently declined — and that’s how I knew she truly wasn’t feeling well.

What was supposed to be a quick trip turned into a very slow one. Torrential rain fell, and suddenly the trip became something else — a moment to do something just for me.

So here I sit, alone, waiting patiently to get my nails done.

The backstory? Not even a year ago, I wouldn’t have considered doing this. I had accepted that my hands and nails would just always look rough. I couldn’t do them myself without making a mess of it, and I certainly wouldn’t have gone out — alone — to get them done.

But here I am.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

Life changes, sometimes quietly, almost invisibly, until one day you wake up and realize you’re not the same. That maybe, just maybe, you’ve grown.

There are seasons in life where we feel like darkness will surround us forever. When hope feels distant and the light seems too dim to trust.

But God reminds us: This season isn’t forever.

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” — Psalm 30:5 (NKJV)

Right now, my life is filled with the ache of loss — saying goodbye to older loved ones — while also witnessing the joy of new life as babies are born all around us.

To the mamas of little ones: I know it feels like this season will last forever. The sleepless nights, the exhaustion, the crying (yours and theirs). But it won’t. The sleeplessness will give way to longer nights. The tears will be replaced with stillness. It will pass.

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart.” — Isaiah 40:11 (NIV)

To those suffering in silence: cling to your faith. God’s arms are not far. He is carrying you through the darkness, even when you can’t see it.

To my friends who feel hopeless: let this be a gentle reminder — darkness always turns into morning. And morning brings renewal.

Have you ever risen early enough to witness the sunrise? Heard the birds greet the day? Seen the dew settled gently over the ground?

That’s what your life is like.

Your trials are like the dew of night — like the tears you’ve cried in the quiet. And just as the sun rises and dries the dew, so too will your tears be met with warmth and healing.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22–23 (ESV)

God does this every day — brings light after dark, life after loss, peace after storms. And if He takes such care in the rhythms of the earth, how much more does He love you — His precious child?

Don’t lose hope, dear friend. This season will pass. The darkness will turn to daylight.

You will go from feeling like you’re suffocating to realizing you can breathe again.

And when you look up, you’ll see the rainbow — God’s promise — and remember: He has never left you.
