The Last Saturday of the Year

The last Saturday of the year invites us to pause. Before the calendar turns and life rushes forward again, today is an opportunity to rest, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.

This is a moment to reflect on the year as a whole:

  • the good and the bad
  • the joyful and the difficult
  • the moments that shaped you in ways you expected—and the ones that didn’t.

Reflection asks us to look honestly at what we’ve experienced.

It encourages us to evaluate what we want to carry with us into the new year and what we need to leave behind. Some things have helped us grow, strengthened our faith, or deepened our love. Others may have weighed us down, caused pain, or kept us stuck.

Facing these things takes strength and courage.

Many people avoid reflection because it’s easier to run from hardship than to sit with it. Looking closely at what hurt, what failed, or what disappointed us can feel overwhelming. But we were never meant to do this alone. God meets us in truth, offering strength to face what is hard and courage to pull something meaningful, even healing, from it.

When we lean into this process instead of avoiding it, healing can begin.

Truth is essential for healing. We cannot heal what we refuse to acknowledge. Hiding from the difficult moments of the year may feel safer, but it delays growth. When we embrace the truth, without shame or fear, we create space for restoration, wisdom, and peace to take root.

As you reflect, be gentle with yourself. This isn’t about judgment or regret. It’s about awareness, honesty, and hope.

Finally, as the year comes to a close, intentionally gather what is right and true. Carry forward the lessons, the love, the growth, and the faith that sustained you. Let go of what no longer serves your healing or your future.

Rest. Reflect. Release.

And step into the new year lighter, wiser, and renewed.
